The Special Edition Book Club, Friday, August 28th 2-5pm will introduce Michelle who will give a talk about her work and wonderful book. Tea and cake will be served.
I am so sorry to say this event has been postponed until further notice due to current Covid-19 restrictions.
Michelle's book is called Meridian Menus, it is a great cook book sharing 75 original recipes. These mouthwatering recipes use seasonal foods that support the bodies Meridians, organs and associated muscles.
I have read a lot of books during lockdown by Cathy Glass which are both compelling & engrossing as she tells her true experiences as a foster carer. A true earth angel with a real talent to take you into her selfless world.
Great books to be reviewed for future book club meetings as she heals the wounds of so many vulnerable & abused children. Her books offer a deep insight for all therapists on healing trauma and abuse inflicted in childhood.
You can then follow up on how the children are doing via her website - www.cathyglass.co.uk
THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ by Heather Morris is a real page turner followed by the sequel CILKA'S JOURNEY. Having visited Austwitz myself many years ago I am horrified, humbled and yet fascinated how people survived such appalling conditions and unbelievable cruelty.
MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Victor Frankl is a classic and all three books will be discussed at future Book Club meetings.
A GARDEN OF EDEN IN HELL - this book we reviewed in 2015 where our whole group were in awe of the story of Alice Herz-Sommer. Despite the horror of what she had witnessed she believed "Life was Beautiful" and died at 110!
There are many clips on You Tube of her talking, what an inspirational woman she truly was..
2020 - The January Book Club meeting was a wonderful event where we each shared our favourite books and how they have influenced us. Some of the top favourites ( previously reviewed by our group in 2014/15) are -
DYING TO BE ME by Anita Moorjani - a most inspiring and uplifting read!
A STREET CAT NAMED BOB by James Bowen - a really heartwarming and uplifting story that captured the hearts of millions and was made into a movie.
TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE by Mitch Albom - a really light read sharing lessons on how to live.
THE FOUR AGREEMENTS by Don Miguel Ruiz - Another inspiring book with many great lessons.
I started the Book Club in January 2014 and it has proven to be a lot of fun alongside us all acquiring a little extra knowledge from one another during our discussions. It has attracted an eclectic group of like minded people in the healing industry and others who are interested in health and wellbeing so it is open to all. It also counts as 3 hours of C.P.D. (Continued Professional Development) for active health care practitioners.
The Holistic Health Book Club Group started 2019 reading two very interesting biographies:
Our highlight was a wonderful, informative and humorous talk given by the author JANET KELLY in August 2019..
Everyone loved her books –
DEAR BENEFICIARY by Janet Kelly
FOR THE LAST TIME by Janet Kelly
A wonderful day was had by all and it proved to be a great networking day for a fabulous eclectic group of ladies.
